The Feldenkrais Method® uses gentle movement and directed attention to help you
become more aware of how you are moving. You will discover habits and tensions
and explore new possibilities for how to organize yourself, often with a clearer sense
of skeletal support.
During an
individual Functional Integration® session, I will guide you with
gentle touch and movement. The session will be tailored to your specific situation
and goals. For example, you may be recovering from an injury, surgery, or a motor vehicle accident.
You may be seeking new ways to move without pain. You may want to sit,
stand, or lie more comfortably. Or your goal may be to walk
with greater ease and stability. You may want to participate in particular activities,
like swimming or playing a musical instrument, with less effort. The exploration may begin
in a particular area, such as the shoulder,
lower back, pelvis, hip, knees, hands, jaw, or feet. It also involves integrating your
new discoveries into how you move your whole self so that you can function better in
daily life. You'll be fully clothed, usually lying on a low table, or sometimes
sitting or standing.
During a
group Awareness Through Movement® lesson, I will provide verbal direction
so that you can explore a slow, gentle sequence of movements in a range that is comfortable
for you. Lessons may involve moving the head, shoulders, arms, legs, or pelvis, bending,
rolling, twisting, reaching, and even eye and jaw movements. At the end of a class,
participants usually experience increased vitality as well as a sense of well-being and
calm.
ONLINE sessions are available.
